Survey: What Are The Factors Driving Abroad Students
Towards Germany For Studies?
Germany is one of
the most significant abroad education destinations for students belonging to
other countries and the percentage of international students willing to study
here has been gradually increasing year over year.
Nearly 320,000
international students are studying in Germany, which constitutes nearly 10.5%
of the country’s student body, as per the 2019 DAAD report.
As per the latest survey, here are the factors which are playing a key role in attracting
students from foreign nations.
Around 33 percent
participants said that they are attracted to Germany as the universities are
not charging any tuition fees to pursue studies.
Another 31 percent
responded that they want to study in Germany as the universities there are well
reputed for offering a good education.
Around 10 percent
of the respondents revealed that employment opportunities post-graduation are
luring them to consider Germany.
On the other side,
students expressed language barrier, accommodation, and Germany bureaucracy are
very challenging for them.
Nearly 75% of
people gave ratings between 8-10 for the Germany city in which they are living.
Definitely, the ‘No
Tuition Fees’ is one of the most attractive benefits for Indian students to
study in Germany.
International
students need not pay any regular tuition fees, except student union fee,
student contributions including a public transport ticket that costs around 250
euros per semester.

There are nearly
429 public institutions (higher education) operating in Germany among which 106
are universities. There are few education institutions steadily ranking among
the world's top universities.
Germany is home to
some of the oldest universities of Europe, besides being best in architecture
and state of the art facilities, the universities are well known for
maintaining high standards in education and research.

options to choose the course option as per their interest

Most of the
programs are available in English and are taught in English as well benefiting international students. However, learning the German language remains as
the added advantage to mingle with people on campus and outside, and also
supports well in part-time work.
The country
welcomes diverse and multicultural, Students belonging to China, India, Russia,
Italy, France, Turkey, and Bulgaria, etc. are seen at German universities. While
China is the largest distributor of international students, Indian is in second
place. The Indian students’ enrolment is steadily increasing year to year.
The number of
foreign students pursuing their courses in Germany are higher than 3, 50,000
and the number is expected to increase more next year.
As per Deutscher
Akademischer Austauschdienst German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) findings
for 2018-19, the number of Indian students whose favorite study destination is
Germany is on the rise.
The number of
Indian students in Germany in 2018-19 (winter) is 20,810, recording an
excellent growth of 18.44% compared to past figures.
Indians are the second-largest group of international students at German universities after Chinese. Around 64% of Indian students are enrolled in Universities.
