What is PTE?

PTE is the shorter form of Pearson Test Of English, an English language test designed and introduced by Pearson PLC group. 

The main purpose of this exam is to check the English proficiency of non-native English speakers who are willing to go English-speaking countries for education or work. 

PTE is growing rapidly, it is being recognized by more than 700 institutions Globally including top Universities like INSEAD and Harvard and is applicable for around 1800 courses.



There are two types of PTE test

PTE Academic

PTE General

PTE academic is the combination of four parts- Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening. However, Speaking and Writing comes in a single part.

PTE General comprises two main sections -Writing and Speaking. The Written part is further divided into sections of Listening, Reading and Writing.

PTE is a computer-based exam of 3 hours (at a stretch) without human monitoring or intervention.
