Survey On UK Universities: Online ?? or Face-to-face ??

The corona pandemic has been affecting all the countries across the globe, damaged the lives of millions of people, and also has taken a significant toll on the global economy. All eyes are on the world’s first covid19 vaccine, invented by Russia.

Recently, President Putin announced this sensational news while the world is eagerly waiting for vaccine. Though doubts are arising on the safety of the Russian vaccine, the majority are supporting this breakthrough in medical science and praising the efforts of the largest country. Russian Government is taking necessary actions to take the vaccine into the public. Let’s hope for the best results.

There is a drastic impact on education due to covid19.  Ever since the outbreak set to spread across the globe, the abroad universities have shut their campuses and moved to online teaching. The same situation is seen in United Kingdom as well.

The intensity of pandemic, successive lockdowns, and air travel restrictions forced students to stay at their home places. In this scenario, the UK universities have kick started distance learning programs for students who are not able to arrive.

However, there are questions and confusion among students when the face to face learning actually begins. Let’s see what universities of the United Kingdom are thinking about the present and future conditions and their plans.

As per the latest survey,  98.3% of UK institutions are planning for blended learning i.e both online and face-to-face.  This means almost all universities across the united kingdom are confident of delivering both virtual and traditional classroom teaching. However, the research also shows that around 70% of educational institutions (i.e seven in 10 universities) are expecting fully online learning.

Let’s see the insights of university main staff including deans, vice-chancellors, and registrars- 54.4% of them opined that the main campus will be opened in either September or October this year 2020, while 38.6% expects their campus operations in next year January.

As per the survey on 104 staff, 8.6% have opined that they are expecting face-to-face with minimum online, while 70% anticipate maximum virtual teaching with a minimum in-campus. On the other hand, 19% expect blended delivery with online and face-to-face in equal ratios.

Let’s see what the study reveals about opinions, anticipations on health measures, and social distancing measures when face to face begins in the UK

82.8% said that their university will install hand sanitizer equipment on campus

37.9% of opines that the teaching and other staff would be provided protective equipment

25.9% said wearing face-masks would be mandatory

65.5% anticipated that their university will take social distancing measures by conducting classes and seminars in larger rooms

The survey might clear the doubts among students displaying a clear picture of the universities’ expectations and plans on study and safety amid a pandemic. Let’s hope that the situations come under control and students have the real abroad study experience.
