Canada Issued New Guidelines: Green Signal For Expired COPR and PR Visa Holders, Permitted To Travel Canada.
Breaking the confusions, IRCC(Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has issued new guidelines for Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and Permanent Residence (PR) visa holders and has granted relief to immigrants with expired COPR and PR visa.
As per IRCC’s latest policy, Individuals with expired COPR and PR Visa are allowed to travel to Canada.
However, some rules vary for expired visa (COPR and PR) holders depending on whether they are arriving from (the US or other countries).
One of the rules to quality for expired COPR and PR visa category reveals that immigrants from other nations (not the U.S.A) need to have obtained their visas on or before March 18, while no such rule applies to individuals coming from America.
However, the 14 days quarantine rule applies strictly to all.
Here is the list of IRCC guidelines
Group 1: Valid COPR and PRV (Arriving from other countries outside the U.S.A)
This category is for travelers from countries other than the U.S with valid COPR and PRV (issued on or before March 18)
They are given exemptions from travel restrictions;
Allowed to Canada for non-discretionary purposes with the expired document
14-day quarantine is mandatory
Group 2: Valid COPR and PRV (Arriving from the U.S.)
Individuals from the US who are arriving for non-discretionary must follow the below rules to settle and reside in Canada
Must get approval for their application
Already received COPR and PRV visas, but must have validity till now
Acceptable 14 days Quarantine plan
Group 3: Expired COPR and PRV( arriving from outside the U.S.)
Expired COPR and PR holders are required to contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) using IRCC Webform.
Provide the expiry date of the COPR
Provide non-discretionary purposes for their travel.
After this process, applicants have to satisfy the following rules, submit any required documents
Submit an acceptable proof of your plan to settle in Canada
Proof of a justifiable/acceptable quarantine plan for 14 days
Submit a proposed travel itinerary proof
Group 4: Expired COPR and PR (Travelling from the U.S.A)
Applicants from the united states of America with expired COPR and PR are allowed to travel and settle in Canada under non-discretionary reasons, must follow the below rules
Approved application
Have COPR and PR visa
14-day quarantine plan.
